WOMEN WHO LEAD

Women in Leadership

About a hundred local women gathered at the Academy Art Museum for the inaugural Leadership for Women Conference, organized by Sandy Hale of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Shar McBee, a nationally known motivational speaker and author of two bestselling leadership books: “To Lead is to Serve” and “Joy of Leadership.” McBee was the keynote speaker of the event, which also included a panel discussion with several local women leaders, who addressed everything from personnel decisions to dealing with professional setbacks to the importance of intuition. The afternoon session included discussions on “How to get people involved,” “Dressing for leadership” and “Social networking: Is it worth your time?” Given this year’s response, Hale said she intends to hold the event again next year.
